Best places to eat in Galway.

Welcome to our first blog!

Over the next three weeks we will be featuring some of the events that took place during our Blas na Bealtaine food festival, as well as some of the best places to eat in Galway city and county.

‘Blas na Bealtaine’ & ‘Blas na Samhain’ are two month-long food and drink festivals (May & November) celebrating some of the best places to eat and drink in Galway.

Throughout May, Blas Na Gaillimhe network presented an exciting programme of events to showcase Galway as one of the best foodie destinations in Europe.

The festival had something for everyone, from serious food enthusiasts to families of all ages: oyster tastings, tapas, a seven course pop-up menu, a biodiversity walk, cheese-making demonstrations, seafood five course lunch, Brazilian food and music, foraging, beer, wine & whiskey pairings, music, and curated menus celebrating local producers…

Our next festival is Blas na Samhain | A Taste of November. Keep an eye on our social media for updates, or email if you would like to take part.

In the mean time, enjoy a visual journey of some of our events throughout May.

Sheridan’s also ran ‘A CHEESE & PIEDMONT WINE EVENING,’ which was funded by EU50 & Galway City Council. During this event Sheridans shared a selection of Irish Farmhouse Cheeses & extraordinary natural wines from Piedmont (Italy), while discussing the influence of European cheese making on modern Irish farmhouse cheese.

Cava Bodega

During ‘Blas na Bealtaine’ – multi-award-winning Spanish restaurant, Cava Bodega, celebrated fifteen years in business in Galway City. Established by award-winning chef JP McMahon and restauranteur Drigin Gaffney, Cava Bodega is renowned for its creative dishes and delicious wine pairing. This event was a huge success, with live flamenco music, and some of the very best Spanish cuisine.

NEXT UP: The Dáil Bar

The award winning Dáil Bar fired up the grill and went al fresco for their McGeough’s of Connemara Fine Foods STREET BBQ.

A Taste of Feijoada

Chef Laura Rosso Restaurant treated us to a weekend of traditional Brazilian food and music. Feijoada is a traditional dish from Brazil, which consists of slow cooked pork and black beans stew. Served with rice, vinaigrette, cassava flour, cabbage and pork cracklings.

Traditional Thursday’s

Collaboration is a key feature of our network, and there’s no better way to celebrate our producers than ‘Traditional Thursday’s… with Seven Bar & Restaurant.’ Seven featured their local producers with a traditional menu every week throughout May.

NEXT WEEK: We have plenty more events to share – So, keep an eye on our social platforms if you don’t want to miss our next instalment.
