Galway’s new wine bar, Daróg (‘small oak tree’), on Lower Dominick Street is an intimate space offering a wide range of artisan, biodynamic, organic and natural wines, and a selection of hot/cold plates, cheese & meat boards.
Daróg is a labour of love for husband-and-wife team Zsolt Lukács & Edel McMahon-Lukács. Zsolt, a sommelier for twelve years in the Michelin-starred Aniar Restaurant, has carefully curated a wine list that promotes unique wines from small producers off the beaten track.
And Edel, with over fifteen years of design and marketing experience working with top-tier restaurants including Aniar, Cava Bodega, Armorica and il Vicolo, is channeling her passion for food, nature and local produce into Daróg.
The Kitchen is led by Attila Galambos, the three-time finalist in the prestigious Euro Toques Ireland and former sous chef for Aniar. Originally from Hungary, Attila combines his culinary experience in France, Japan, Denmark and Ireland with local suppliers and produce to guarantee that this “small oak tree” stays true to its roots, right here in the West of Ireland.
Daróg is open 5 days a week, Tuesday to Saturday. Tuesday to Thursday: 5pm to late
Friday & Saturday: 3pm to late. For bookings visit our website: www.darogwinebar.com/reservations
