A family-owned business in the city’s working harbour area, Galway Bay Seafoods was established in 1950 by John V. Holland. Starting off as a small shop on Shop Street in Galway City to moving to the docks and supplying fresh fish and shellfish to hotels, restaurants, and supermarkets all over Galway County. As well as creating their own branded smoked salmon in their very own smokery on their premises. His sons John Jnr and Noel continued to grow the business into what it is today. Galway Bay Seafoods now also includes a shop, seafood deli and cookery school – all attached to the fish processing plant in the docklands area.
