We began our company Chef Laura Rosso selling burgers for friends from home.
A few months later we opened our first physical location in Galway City (still as a takeaway) during the lockdown in April 2020 and also we started up our company officially.
Only one year later we opened the doors to our customers at our current location in Salthill.
Since then we are receiving positive feedback from our customers and we are happy with everything that we have achieved so far!
At Builin Blasta Cafe, Bakery & Retail we love food, we love café culture & we love to be a little different. Our café is family-friendly, dog-friendly, and wheelchair friendly and overall, just friendly!
Specializing in wholesome, tasty comfort food, we are dedicated to quality from start to finish; our breads, cakes & pastries are made in-house, we have a selection of homemade retail products available to purchase in-store or online and we cook all your food fresh, to order.
Our menu features a range of traditional Irish and European dishes including; freshly made soups, sandwiches and salads, savoury tarts and hearty main courses.
Did we mention we have a sweet tooth? Our dessert counter is laden with yummy cakes, freshly baked scones, tray bakes and savoury treats to enjoy in the cafe or take away with you to enjoy at home. It’s a daily struggle for our customers to leave without having at least a slice!

Located just 60 seconds from Eyre Square in the heart of the city, Galway City Distillery is a unique addition to Galway’s bustling food & drink scene.
Galway City Distillery operates with the core belief “Of here. Made here. For here.” and that inspires everything we do. Ingredients are locally sourced (you won’t find lemons or limes here but you will find bog myrtle and seaweed!) and we are working to drive the entire distillery towards zero waste and fully renewable practices. We are proud to produce our own spirits on-site and to bring the fine art of distillation back to the centre of the city. Everything is carefully considered and the drinks showcase the rich produce available from the Irish countryside. A must for any discerning imbiber.
Launched in March 2022, Galway City Distillery has 3 different spaces;
An Caifé – a bright, elegant café serving the best coffee roasted in Galway – open from 12pm Monday – Wednesday and 8am Thursday – Sunday.
An Sconna – a stylish cocktail bar with drinks created by a master team of mixologists and flavour experts using all locally sourced ingredients that change with the phases of the moon.
An Scoil – Galway’s first flavour school where you can learn how your favourite spirit is produced from grain to glass. A must for gin lovers, create your own spirit with your favourite botanicals for a truly memorable experience. Perfect for group gatherings or corporate events.
POTA has three core values. Community, Sustainability and Quality. We are a small café in the heart of the Connemara Gaeltacht and the last eatery en route to the Aran Islands. Our focus is on local, seasonal, organic food prepared with a light touch to help it shine. All of our staff are fluent Irish speakers.
